Crime story

A MAN suffered a fractured jaw after an unprovoked attack in Wigan.

In the early hours of Sunday, June 22, the 22-year-old was with his girlfriend on the dance floor of the attic room in Indiependance on King Street West when a man walked up to him and punched him.

He fell to the floor before the offender left.

He is described as being white, in his 20s, 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, had blonde hair which was shaved at the sides and combed over on top, of stocky build wore a black t-shirt and dark jeans.

Detective Constable Matt Higham said: “This was a completely random attack on a victim who was enjoying a night out with his girlfriend. He suffered a fractured jaw meaning he has had to have a metal plate fitted and was in hospital for five days.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw this man hit the victim or saw him outside the club after he was thrown out, to contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 7149/7124 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
