Cash taken from Co-op in armed robbery

Two armed robbers threatened staff at a Co-operative store with knives and forced them to hand over cash.

Police are now appealing for information following the terrifying incident at the Wigan Road store in Bryn at around 10.30pm on Saturday June 11.

Officers were told two men in their early 20s entered the store and demanded staff give them the contents of the till while threatening them with the weapons.

The employees handed over cash and the two offenders left on foot, though it is not clear which direction they went in.

Nobody was injured in the incident. No further details of the two offenders were available.

No arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are now appealing for anyone with information about this incident to ring 101 or contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
