A new Wigan dad headbutted a pub window so hard that it smashed during a row at his baby daughter’s christening.

Declan Coleman, 18, says he “lost it” during a moment of madness at the Railway pub on Billinge Road, Pemberton.

The 18-year-old, from Appleton Grove, Goose Green, had spent the day on April 11 celebrating the family baptism, but he told Wigan and Leigh magistrates that an argument later broke out outside the pub and that he became so frustrated that he slammed his head against the window with force.

Coleman admitted a charge of criminal damage and apologised for his actions,

Coleman was given a conditional discharge of 12 months and was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.

There was no order to pay compensation because the court heard that a contrite Coleman had already volunteered to pay the pub for the damage.

However the magistrates did ban him from going into the Railway pub for a six-month period.

A man has denied assaulting a woman and causing criminal damage.

Craig Hibbert, of Housley Close, Worsley Mesnes, was released on conditional bail to return to Wigan Magistrates’ Court on June 20,

The alleged offence involving the 24-year-old happened on April 14.

A man has appeared in court, charged with assaulting a woman.

Mark Jones, 48, of Kay Street, Atherton, admitted beating his former partner, Dewi Gordon, when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court. The court heard how he slapped her and grabbed her round the throat. He was released on conditional bail, to appear on May 17 for a sentencing report.

Barry Russell Gottlieb has admitted selling nicotine to a child under 18 when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard how he wrongfully sold an Aruc E-Cigarette at Traders Corner shop, in Mesnes Road, Wigan, to a minor on November 30 last year.

He was fined £140 and ordered to pay court costs of £316, as well as a victim surcharge of £44.
