A MAN spotted riding a stolen bike was arrested by police who discovered he had bought it innocently - but then found a secret cannabis farm at his home.

Paul Felton was growing a dozen plants in a tent in a rear bedroom and had set up a heating and lighting system, bypassing the electricity meter to power it. They also found a small amount of cannabis resin and amphetamine, said Harry Pepper, prosecuting. The 30-year-old was initially arrested on suspicion of breaking into the house where the expensive mountain bike had been stolen from but it was accepted that he had paid £450 cash for it in good faith.

Felton, of Dale Street, Leigh, admitted producing cannabis, abstracting electricity and possessing amphetamine and cannabis. He was placed under 12 months’ supervision and ordered to attend a drugs rehabilitation course.
