'˜Drunk' teen climbed onto police station roof

The 18-year-old was arrested for criminal damage after he climbed onto the roof of Wigan Police Station on Robin Park Road at 4.11am this morning, Sunday.

Police officers and firefighters spent around 50 minutes trying to talk him down before he came down of his own accord using fire service equipment at around 5am.

It is thought the man was drunk and was not injured.

A GMP spokesman said: “We got the feeling it was more of a drunken prank than anything more serious.

“We are just in the process of assessing whether any damage has been done to the roof and if there isn’t he will be released and more than likely dealt with in another way.”
