Drunken lifts home cost man his licence

Crime story

Crime story

A DRIVER who admitted to being double the drink-drive limit when taking his pals home from a night out has been banned from the road.

Wigan magistrates heard that Ryan Foster’s Vauxhall Astra was pulled over by police on Bolton Road, Ashton at 2.10am on May 25 when it was seen wandering off the road. Officers breath-tested him and found 74 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The 27-year-old from Pine Grove, Ashton, said: “There are no excuses for what I have done, all I can do is apologise. It was a complete error of judgement and it won’t happen again.”

Foster received an 18-month ban but if he completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course this will be reduced by four months. He was also fined £240 and must pay £85 costs and a £24 victim surcharge.
