FIRE crews spent most of the night tackling a scrap metal blaze at Ainscough’s yard in Wigan.
With regular firefighters on strike, emergency crews were called to the site at about 5pm on Saturday (May 3).
Regular firefighters then took over at 2.30am when the industrial action came to an end.
The blaze generated a lot of smoke but trains running on the nearby railway line were unaffected.
Firefighters remained at the scene until about 5am.
