Free bus travel on Armed Forces Day

Soldiers, veterans and cadets can all travel across the region for free on Armed Forces Day, a bus operator has announced.

First Manchester is throwing open the doors of its vehicles across Greater Manchester to anyone with connections to front-line service on Saturday June 25.

The offer has been introduced to help serving and retired members of the armed forces travel to events on the day when the UK recognises those who lay their lives on the line for the country.

Anyone in the armed forces or cadet groups who wears a uniform can travel on First buses for free.

Personnel can also get free travel by showing an ID card and veterans will not have to pay if they show identification such as the Veteran’s Badge issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Adrian Worsfold, director of operations for First Manchester said: ”We’re proud to support Armed Forces Day which is a very special occasion for many people who want to remember family, friends and others who have been lost in military service.

“As a committed supporter of the communities we serve, we want to make it as easy as possible for people to attend local events with this special offer on Saturday.”
