Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed in Wigan.

A 46-year-old woman was walking down a canal towpath between Warrington Road and Chapel Lane, in Ince, between 8.15am and 8.30am on Thursday August 14, when she was approached by a man.

He demanded cash and when she tried to show him that she had none, he instead insisted she hand over her jewellery.

Fearful for her safety, the woman handed over a Rolex watch valued at more than £6,500 and a platinum ring worth £1,600.

The man then ran off towards Warrington Road.

The offender is described as white, around 17 to 18 years of age, about 5ft 9in tall and of average build with a Wigan accent. He was wearing a dark grey hooded top with his hood up, a grey scarf with black spots and dark blue tracksuit bottoms and muddy trainers.

If you have any information call Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
