LATICS were without top scorer Nick Powell for their do-or-die play-off tie at QPR after he pleaded guilty to drink driving at Crewe Magistrates.
The on-loan Manchester United ace has been handed a 14-month driving ban and ordered to pay a £5,000 fine.
The 20-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Sunday, April 20, in his hometown of Crewe driving a Vauxhall Corsa.
His breath test at the scene was 54mg per 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35.
A Wigan Athletic spokesman said the club would not be issuing a comment at this stage.
It remains unclear whether the 20-year-old will remain with Latics should the side progress to the Wembley play-off final against Derby County on May 24.
Powell enjoyed a sparkling start to the campaign after arriving last summer from the Old Trafford outfit.
But he has suffered a downturn in form since the turn of the year, and has scored just twice since mid-January.
He was left out of the squad completely for Friday’s play-off first leg against QPR at the DW, which ended 0-0, and his last appearance was in the 2-0 home defeat to Blackpool on April 26.
