Cheryl Woods, of Nyland Road, Liverpool, also appeared in the dock alongside Cairns accused of voyeurism, recording someone doing a private act.

The charges were brought after a computer was seized on July 7 2014, with more than 700 indecent images on it, some of which contained extreme pornographry. There were also what were described as “up skirt” photos of a woman which Cairns is accused of taking, while the charge of voyeurism related to photos taken of a child under 16 on the toilet and in the shower.

Neither defendant entered a plea and the justices concluded that although Woods’s case could be dealt with by them, the accusations against Cairns were more serious and would need be dealt with at crown court.

Both were released on conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on May 25. Cairns must not have any unsupervised contact with an under-18, contact an alleged victim and must reside at the address given to the court until the next appearance.

Woods must not have unsupervised contact with a child under 18 unless approved by social services.
