Man in hospital after being hit by car

A man suffered a broken arm and injuries to his face after being hit by a car.

It is believed the man in is 20s was crossing the East Lancs Road at its junction with Newton Road in Lowton when he was struck by a car just after midnight this morning, Wednesday.

A fire crew and paramedics were called to the scene and the pedestrian, who had suffered a break at the top of his right arm and swelling to his face, was taken to hospital.

The driver of the car was spoken to by police but no further action will be taken.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “It looks like the man was crossing the road when he was hit by a car near to a set of traffic lights.

“He was conscious and breathing but he did have a broken arm and swelling to the right side of his face.

“We left him in the care of the paramedics who we believe took him to hospital.”
