POLICE are probing an horrific stabbing on a Wigan housing estate on Tuesday afternoon.
Patrol cars raced to Marsh Green, Marsh Green, after reports that a man had been seen staggering along the street with a knife embedded in his chest and heavily bleeding.
Horrified neighbours, who had rung 999, watched detectives mark off land with emergency tape while other officers started door to door inquiries.
A man believed to be the centre of the incident was later confirmed to have been rushed to Wigan Infirmary. It is not clear at this time how many people were involved in the emergency.
Nor indeed if it had occurred inside a property near the taped off area, or whether the man had received his injuries while passing nearby.
One neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I’m not sure what happened but it doesn’t look good. There were lots of police and an ambulance which has just left.
“It was only last week that there was a shooting just across the road. There always seems to be trouble around here.”
