Motorcyclist killed in lorry crash

A Wigan motorcyclist has died after he was involved in a collision with a lorry.

The 20-year-old, from Standish, was found with multiple injuries following the crash last night.

Police were called to Course Lane in Newburgh, close to the Tawd Vale campsite ar around 10.15pm.

Officers believe the man had been riding a Yamaha motorbike eastbound on the road when the bike collided with a lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist was treated by paramedics but sadly passed away.

The driver of the lorry, a 41-year-old man from Ormskirk, was uninjured.

The road was closed for more than four hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

Sgt James Power, of Lancashire Police, said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with this man’s family at this time.

“We are appealing for information following the collision and would be keen to speak to anyone with information.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorbike in the area before the incident.”
