Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) were asked to intervene by Wigan Council after four-year-old Dominic Keegan was injured on High Street in Golborne last week.

The youngster went to hospital and required surgery after suffering severe lacerations to his face and possible nerve damage.

His mum Karoline has angrily demanded the railing, which was propped against a wall near a bus stop, is removed.

A TfGM spokesman said: “We are very sorry to hear of Dominic’s ordeal and hope he is able to make a full recovery.

“We carried out an investigation as soon as we were informed about the incident. The railing is not part of the bus stop and is not owned by TfGM.”
