Photos of children and extreme animal porn found on man's laptop

A man was found with indecent photos of children and also extreme animal pornographic images, a court heard.

The 48 images were discovered on Kenneth Arnold’s laptop when police raided his home on August 29 last year and seized the computer, said Ken Grant, prosecuting.

When it was analysed by forensic experts it was found to contain 44 indecent images of children, mainly in the lowest category, and four extreme porn images involving animals.

Arnold, 62, who walks with the aid of a stick, was told by Judge Andrew Menary, QC, “You must appreciate offences of this type are always regarded as serious particularly offences in relation to

children.

“They will have involved someone at some stage taking images of a child, causing harm and distress.

“What you were doing fuels that type of industry and that is why it is always regarded as a serious offence.”

He sentenced Arnold to a 12 month community sentence with 30 days rehabilitation activity.

He also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his internet access for the same period of time.

Judge Menary said that he accepted he had experienced difficulties recently including ill health and loss of work which had contributed to him committing the offences.

Arnold, of Low Croft, Skelmersdale, pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images and one of possessing extreme porn.

Daniel Prowse, defending, said that Arnold had admitted his behaviour which had shocked everyone who knew him.

His family are standing by him, he added.
