A POLICE officer has been suspended from driving duties after a two-vehicle crash in Wigan.
Investigations are being carried out into the collision between a patrol car and a Subaru at the junction of Scholefield Lane and Greenough Street in Scholes.
The Hyundai police vehicle, driven by a male officer, was answering an emergency call, sounding its siren and flashing its lights before the crash shortly before 12.30am yesterday.
Firefighters who attended the scene believe the other vehicle was a licensed taxi.
Both drivers received treatment from paramedics at the scene.
But their injuries were not severe enough for them to require hospital treatment.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police said: “In line with procedure, the officer involved has been suspended from driving duties.
“Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision continue.”
