Prince Harry coming to Wigan

Prince Harry will make a special visit to Wigan tomorrow (Tuesday).

His Royal Highness will visit three community sports projects, spending the afternoon in the borough.

It is part of the Prince’s programme of supporting projects that promote sport as a means for social development.

His first port of call will be Cast North West in Newburgh, which uses angling as a way to engage with young people identified as at risk of falling out of education, training or employment.

He will then visit The Blair Project at the Three Sisters Racetrack, which creates exciting motorsport projects that can enthuse and inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and digital industries.

The location of his third stop off has not yet been confirmed.

A Royal spokesman said the visits will: “give Prince Harry a further insight into some of the great work that is taking place around the country by community groups, who are developing the life chances of at-risk young people through sports and leisure activities.

“During his visit, Prince Harry will see how the benefits of sport are being maximised by these organisations and used as a platform for education, training, employment and personal development among young people.”
