A WIGAN schoolboy was rushed to hospital by North West Air Ambulance after a serious road accident near a park.

The pedestrian, who is believed to be nine years old, sustained significant suspected leg, arm and back injuries in the incident involving a Peugeot 407 car at the junction of Queens Road and Wigan Road, in Ashton, in the vacinity of popular Jubilee Park.

The female driver of the car was treated by Paramedics for shock.
