POLICE are appealing for help after a man was dumped outside Wigan Infirmary with severe stab wounds.
The alarm was raised by paramedics at about 4.25Pm on Saturday who reported a man had been dropped off by car at the hospital suffering from serious injuries.
Police officers went to the hospital and found the 24-year-old victim suffering from several serious stab wounds to the face, neck and abdomen.
His injuries are very serious, but not believed to be life threatening.
It is believed the incident that caused him to be injured happened in the Bamfurlong area, however no location has yet been identified.
Detective Inspector Martin Reddington, of Wigan INPT West, said: “At the moment we only have limited information about how this man came to be stabbed.
“This is why we urgently need the public’s help. We believe this possibly happened in the Bamfurlong area of Wigan yesterday, however we cannot confirm this at this time. So, do you live in that area and did you hear or see anything out of the ordinary on Saturday afternoon.
“If so please call us. This man has been stabbed and slashed with a knife several times and is in a poorly condition so, if you know anything, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police in Wigan on 0161 856 7124 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
