A LICENCE has been granted for a new fully-nude strip club to open on King Street.
Councillors on the Regulation Committee made the decision at a meeting attended by the applicants for the former Walkabout and Surfers nightclub.
On May 19, an application for a Sexual Entertainment Venue Licence for Baby Platinum – which has a similar club in Manchester – for the ground floor of the venue of 54-56 King Street was submitted by ABA Leisure (Two) Limited to the Council.
The Committee was advised that the application also sought to vary condition 30(g) of the Council’s Standard Conditions for Sexual Entertainment Venues.
This would allow the performer to “remove her G-string during a private performance but replace it at the conclusion of the performance”.
The Committee raised one area of concern in relation to the arrangements for smoking outside of the premises which would bring performers and the public in close proximity to one another.
The applicant agreed to provide an alternative area for staff and performers to smoke should the application be granted to keep them away from customers.
The Committee granted the licence with the variation of condition 30(g) of the Council’s Standard Conditions for Sexual Entertainment Venues and subject to the applicant providing an undertaking to provide an alternative area for staff and performers to smoke.
