When the three offenders failed to open the cash machine by hand, they poured an unknown explosive substance into the machine and set it on fire, destroying the cash machine at the Co-operative shop on Manchester Road, Astley.

The offenders then stole a quantity of cash from the machine before fleeing in a car.
