A WIGAN woman clawed her partner’s face and punched him repeatedly while he was driving at 40mph on a dual carriageway.

Care home worker Julie Woodcock, 46, and Sean Curwen had been arguing about cheating on each other, magistrates in Manchester heard.

Mr Curwen managed to stop without mishap and while ringing the police Woodcock drove off in the car, said prosecutor David Graham.

Woodcock, of Rose Avenue, Abram, was convicted after trial of assaulting Mr Curwen and given a 12-month restraining order not to contact him in any way.

She was fined £50 with £50 compensation to the victim and ordered to pay £300 costs and £60 surcharge.

Mr Graham said that during a bust-up in Woodcock’s flat last December she accused her partner of infidelity.

Woodcock later asked the complainant to take her to a garage for cigarettes and on the way back attacked him.

He suffered several scratches to his face.

Michael McQuillan, defending, claimed that Mr Curwen had also been two timing his partner.

“It was not all one sided but Woodcock accepts her behaviour was unacceptable and is now worried about her job”, he added.
