WIGAN’S Freemasons presented Wigan and Leigh Hospice with its annual donation this week.

The Freemasons Lodges have supported the hospice for a number of years and earlier this week Wigan Masonic Group chairman, Malcolm Taylor and vice chairman Geoff Porter presented the £500 to physiotherapists, June Law and Irene Giles.

The donation is part of the ongoing support Freemasons give to hospices nationally.

Hospice Corporate Director Alan Baron said: “The support we receive from Freemasonry is very important towards providing the funds needed to maintain the level of care required for local people.

“We are delighted to be able to say that more than 90p in every pound donated goes directly into patient care.

“Raising £1.5m a year is very challenging, especially in these difficult times and we appeal to everyone in our community to support us in any way you can.”
