STANDSTILL traffic on the M6 stretched as far back as Wigan after an accident in Cheshire.
A 10-car pile-up on the southbound carriageway between junctions 19 and 20 at 10.44am this morning saw all three lanes closed off for around an hour-and-a-half.
Traffic gradually built up and stretched up towards the southern Wigan junctions, while the northbound lanes were also temporarily shut while an air ambulance attended the scene.
One lane on the southbound carriageway re-opened at 12.15pm before it was fully cleared at about 1.10pm. As of this time, traffic was still building up in the Wigan
There people were seriously injured in the collision both were taken to hospital; one via air ambulance and the other by road ambulance.
