TRAFFIC delays on the M6 will last all week, Highways England has said.
Commuters faced a two-hour delay between junction 20 right back to junction 27 at Standish on Monday morning because of emergency repairs on the southbound carriageway.
The problems continued today while delays were also caused after a HGV caught fire in the early hours of the morning on the northbound carriageway between junction 27 and 28.
Highways England confirmed there was extensive damage caused to a safety barrier near junction 20 following an incident last week meaning a lane of the motorway has been closed for around a mile.
But a special part is needed to fix the barrier which may not arrive until Thursday meaning the delays are likely to continue.
