M6 lorry drama lucky escape
The people travelling in this car walked away uninjured - this picture shows the extent of the damage caused when a lorry overturned on the M6 southbound bringing rush-hour traffic to a standstill.
Both drivers were lucky to escape unhurt from the accident, which happened near to junction 27 at Shevington, just south of Charnock Richard, at around 5.30pm on Monday.
The lorry was travelling south when it overturned, landing on top of a Nissan Sunny and crashing into the central embankment.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed for an hour-and-a-half while both vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared of debris, causing long delays.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Fortunately, nobody has been injured. They all walked away and it was just a case of congestion in the area."
Fire crews and the ambulance service were called to the scene while traffic on the northbound carriageway was affected as drivers slowed down to look at the accident.
