A MAN has admitted brutally beating his partner of 13 years in bed as their four young children slept in the next room.
Kieran Dainty of Cameron Place, Worsley Hall, pleaded guilty to an “unpleasant” assault against Lyndsay Hamer at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on July 5 the defendant had been with his family at a relative’s barbecue.
Prosecuting, Steve Woodman explained that the family returned in the evening and went to bed to sleep.
He said: “He woke his partner up and said he would smash all of her family’s heads in.
“The defendant had consumed a considerable amount of alcohol.
“He then grabbed her throat as she lay in bed and punched her in the side of the head.”
The incident was witnessed by the couple’s “upset” 11-year-old son who then contacted the police.
Once officers arrived Dainty was found in an intoxicated state and had no recollection of the matter but fully accepted what had happened.
The court was told the defendant had 28 domestic-related incidents recorded against him since 2003.
Mr Woodman added: “His partner has always been willing to support her husband.”
The 31-year-old was released on conditional bail providing he has no contact with Lyndsay Hamer.
He is due to return to court for sentencing on July 28.
