A MAN has died following an early hours collision with a taxi in Leigh.
Police were called to Kirkhall Lane in the town at about 12.30am on Saturday following reports of a collision between a Citreon Zara Picasso taxi and a 41-year-old pedestrian.
A private ambulance was passing at the time of the collision and took Michael Norman Scragg to Wigan Royal Albert Infirmary for treatment for injuries to his head and body.
Mr Scragg of Melrose Avenue, Leigh. died about an hour later in hospital.
The taxi driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information or who witnessed the collision to speak to the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4742 or 0161 867 4745.
