TWO men have been arrested after a man was left fighting for his life following a brutal assault in Wigan town centre on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to Revolution bar on King Street at around 10.45pm after a 32-year-old man had sustained fractures to the body and serious head injuries.

The bar was immediately evacuated (picture above) so paramedics could attend to him.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10.44pm to attend to a male who had received severe head injuries believed to be from being kicked.

“He was taken on stand-by to Wigan Infirmary.”

One eyewitness told the Evening Post they saw the man “on the floor covered in blood” inside the bar.

His condition was yesterday described as “critical.”

A police spokesperson said: “At around 10.50pm on Saturday, October 6, police were called to the Revolution Bar, King Street following reports a 32-year-old man had been assaulted.

“Two 26-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remain in police custody for questioning.
