POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was deliberately hit by a car in Wigan after a gun was pointed at him.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm last night (Monday) on Argyll Street in Wigan and the 49-year-old man is now recovering in hospital.
Police believe the collision was a targeted attack against the individual and significant enquiries are underway to trace those responsible.
The man had previously been at a gym on Warrington Road in Marus Bridge and left at around 8.20pm, when he began to drive home in his car, an Audi A4.
As he drove near to Goose Green labour club on the A49 at Goose Green, he noticed that a car appeared to be following him and was flashing its lights at him.
The victim got out of his car and as he did, the silver vehicle drove off, before stopping a short way up the street, where the driver got out of the car and pointed a firearm at the man.
The victim ran back to his car, at which point the silver car turned around, mounted the pavement and grass verge and deliberately hit the man, before driving off.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at Wigan CID on 0161 856 7124 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
