A MAN has appeared in court for various driving offences after he stole a car which then crashed into shops and a wall.

Lee Tymon, 30, of Ridyard Street, Worsley Hall, admitted aggravated vehicle taking, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a licence and driving without insurance when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court.

He has also been charged with an unrelated breach of court bail.

He was released on conditional bail, pending reports, and will return to the court on September 22 for sentence.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 27, when a stolen Mercedes left the carriageway on Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, and bounced off the wall of Your Choice fruit and veg store. It then shattered a bus shelter, smashed into the shutters of Bargain Booze before colliding with a wall. Both the passenger and Tymon were taken to hospital.
