TWO Wigan men are facing jail after admitting a frenzied knife attack during a botched car-jacking.
Stephen Briggs-Bennett was left for dead after the onslaught in which he sustained no fewer than 13 stab wounds in the ambush outside a house in Hindley earlier this year.
Lee Daniels and Kieron Wright denied the attempted murder of the 59-year-old but pleaded guilty to the lesser but still serious charge of wounding their victim with intent. They also admitted robbing him of keys and possessing a double-bladed knife in Worcester Avenue, Hindley, on the morning of Sunday February 17.
Mr Briggs-Bennett had been collecting mail from a relative’s house in that street when he was attacked by the two men.
They demanded the keys to his £30,000 Mercedes which was parked outside the home.
However, after attacking him, they fled without the car.
Mr Briggs-Bennett was stabbed in the face, shoulder, left arm and hand and was also repeatedly kicked. When first taken to hospital he was on the critical list but has since rallied.
Daniels, 26, of Castleway and Wright, 27, of Broadway, both in Hindley, were further remanded in custody by Liverpool Crown Court to await sentence on June 21.
