A WIGAN man has been seriously injured following a major collision on the motorway.
A Ford Freda collided with a HGV in lane three of the eastbound carriage way of M58, at junction 5, at Up Holland, at 6.30am on Thursday,
The incident caused major delays as the road was closed eastbound and one lane was closed westbound, between Up Holland and junction 26 at Orrell.
A 24 year-old-man was taken to Fazackerly hospital by an air ambulance, where he is in a serious condition.
Senior Investigating Officer, Sergeant Steve Wignall said: “I would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the M58 at that time and who witnessed the collision to come forward and contact the police.
“The man’s family have been informed and we have specially trained officers supporting them.”
