Man reunited with finger

A man has been reunited with part of his finger after it was bitten off by a dog.

Police had to launch an appeal after a finger tip was discovered by a woman out walking her dog.

The Wigan man, who has not been named, was bitten while delivering charity bags in the Farnworth area of Bolton.

Concerned police issued an appeal for information following the grisly find, and carried out a forensic examination and fingerprint tests were being conducted.

Police dogs were also called to search the area where the dog had been walked previously.

But on Sunday the 57-year-old man, made contact with police following an appeal for information about the fingertip.

The Wigan man confirmed that he had been delivering bags when a dog bit him causing him to lose his part of his finger.

The man was treated at Hope Hospital but has since been discharged.

It is not known if doctors were able to save the fingertip.
