Milestone for cousins

Two cousins born on the same day are set to celebrate their 18th birthday.

Stuart Maddocks and Callum Clayton, from Ashton-in-Makerfield, were front page news in the Wigan Observer when they were born 18 years ago.

Sisters Sue Maddocks and Cath Clayton both gave birth to their baby boys at Billinge Hospital on July 2, 1991.

Sue said: "They're best mates now and share a lot of the same interests.

"They went through school toge-ther and that's help-ed them become really close."

Stuart and Call-um, who were both pupils at St Edmund Arrowsmith High School in Ashton, share a love of rock music and recently celebrated their 18th with a trip to music festival Download.

They had the chance to see some of their favourite bands, including heavy metal rockers Slipknot, at the event at Donnington Park.

The family plans to mark the special day on Thursday with a barbecue for the boys.

Stuart, who helps run the family business KAPS footwear with father Keith, previously attended St John Rigby College and also volunteered as a police cadet for Merseyside Police.

Callum has recently finished an art and graphics course at St John Rigby College and now plans to study fine art and graphics in September.
