A WIGAN man is one of five charged with murder following the shooting of a man in Manchester.

Troy Beckford will appear before magistrates tomorrow (Wednesday) following his arrest on Monday, when officers from Greater Manchester Police raided several North West as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Kieran McGrath last year.

The 23-year-old was also tonight charged with money laundering.

Mr McGrath, 26, was found collapsed outside Ashton police station on Manchester Road on October 4 last year after he had been shot outside the Sheldon Arms pub nearby.

Police officers and paramedics were called to the station and tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene within minutes. Post mortem results show he died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

As well as Beckford, of Lowerfield Gardens, Golborne, four other men are also charged with murder.

They are Anthony Henry, 31, of no fixed address; Scott Chapman, 27, from Newton Heath; Remi Adams, 33 from Whitefield, who is also charged with the possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of ammunition without a certificate; and Jace Ryan Smith, 31, from Blackley who is also charged with the possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
