WIGAN Victim Support and Witness Service celebrated a new year and a new home with a welcome charitable donation.

The organisation decamped this month from its old base at Gerard Winstanley House to the recently opened north site of Wigan Life Centre.

And one of the first functions it performed was to accept the latest cheque from Trevor and Sheila Fairhurst who have been supporting its counselling service since their 19-year-old daughter Carly was killed by her partner six years ago.

The £550 the couple handed over was raised by a festive quiz held at Georgia Brown’s pub in Hindley.
