LAST minute entrants are being urged to sign up for this year’s Run4aLife this weekend.
The 5km event now in its 10th year and is open to everyone. It has so far raised more than £80,000 for men’s cancer research with the Men Matter Appeal the beneficiary this year.
Following last year’s successful event, Wigan Rotary Club will be holding its the annual event this Sunday.
However this year will only be a 5km Fun Run for participants to run, jog or even walk, with the start and finish at the DW Stadium. For anyone wishing to run a 10km event, the Rotary Club has combined with the Joining Jack Charity who is hosting the Wigan 10k on September 7.
Therefore anyone wanting to raise money for mens cancer research at Men Matter Appeal can run then and anyone can enter the 5km and raise money for Joining Jack if they wish.
Men Matter Appeal want everyone to spread the word to all men about the importance of early detection of all men’s cancers. More than 2,000 young men are affected by testicular cancer each year and prostate cancer kills one man every hour, but is only 20th in the league table of research funding even though it has a similar death rate as breast cancer.
Entry is till open via www.run4alife.com and also on the day. The race gets underway at 11am with late registration opening from 10am.
