TEACHERS across the borough should raise a glass to each other this evening to toast the magnificent achievement highlighted by the latest figures on GCSE and A Level achievements.
It is testament to the hard work of both teachers and students that the borough is the best in terms of improvement in Greater Manchester and it will serve as piece of mind for the parents of future generations.
Some of the borough’s schools have seen staggering leaps in terms of the number of pupils achieving five or more GCSE grades A*-C (including English and maths).
Wigan is proving that it has a growing reputation for good schooling and everybody connected with this will be striving to ensure that this trend continues in the years to come and that as many pupils as possible leave their education on a sound footing, which will be vital in terms of employment opportunities in the decades ahead.
It is heart-warming to many to know this and hopefully we will be reporting such news again this time next year.
