FLOODING can be a resident’s worst nightmare as it evokes such a feeling of dread and helplessness.
However, credit must be given to the authorities, who, during last month’s torrential incessant downpours, managed to ensure flooding damage was kept to a minimum.
Thanks to measures put in place some years previous, the Environment Agency confirmed some 600 homes were saved from almost certain flooding and such foresight and work should not be taken for granted.
We all assume we should be safe from things like flooding, but the tireless work and surveys done by authorities such as the Environment Agency and their partners ensure as much as possible is done to reduce the risk of homes being flooded.
With the borough’s population increasing every year and the demand for new homes being met, it only makes their job harder and the entire borough should be thankful for their efforts.
