IT’S a common fact that many people across the borough dislike the Wigan Pier Nightspot and its clubbers.
The place has always been criticised for the music it played, and violence or disruptive behaviour that occurred nearby was often locally blamed on the ravers.
But putting all that aside, the venue was loved by thousands of people across the country.
Described as an institution, it provided a place for like-minded people to listen to music they couldn’t hear elsewhere. It is saddening to hear that it will close, but it is a true reflection of the current climate.
