But as the season goes on, I think we’ll look back on Monday’s result as a really good win – they’ve been going really well this season and, even when they’re not in good form, it’s always tough at their place. I can’t remember a game there that hasn’t been really hard.

We headed there with quite a bit of confidence, especially after beating St Helens on Good Friday.

Sure, they were reduced to 12 men early on, but they seemed to pick up.

I’ve been in games like that – I remember at Warrington last year, we were already trailing and after we’d had a player sent off, there was a pressure-relief.

We played with a bit more of a free rein and managed to get the win, and it was a similar story with Saints – I thought their attack opened up once they lost Kyle Amor.

At the time, I thought it looked bad.

But I’ve seen it back and though he does go high, the first contact seems to be with the ball and so the red was probably a bit harsh.

Sometimes you can tell from the player doing it, and Kyle is not a reckless player.

I can’t speak highly enough of Liam Marshall, who got two of our tries – he did really well to finish in the corner.

Both Marshy and Tom Davies have come in and done great jobs, and when you look at the outside backs we’ve got out, it really dials up the competition for places, and that’s what we want.

Mentioning young wingers, I’m sure Saints feel they’ve got a great prospect on their hands in Regan Grace, he was probably their best player against us.

After the match, Morgan Escare announced he had signed a new deal with the club.

He’s always been a really good player, but coming to Wigan has really helped him develop. I’m pleased for him, because he’s a really good bloke, too, who is down-to-earth and trying hard to improve his English.

And on new contracts, it’s great for Wigan that George Williams has pledged his future to the club.

I really think he could become one of the greats if he carries on doing what he’s doing, and developing as he is.

He’ll say himself there are areas he wants to improve on, and I’m sure that will come with ages, but I don’t want to take anything away from what he’s doing now because he’s a really good player for us.

On Sunday, we welcome Catalans to the DW Stadium.

It’s nice to have a few days turnaround after Easter, and they won both of their matches, too, so it looks like they’ve overcome their own blip. I thought Greg Bird would be a big loss for them but they’ve found a way to win without him, and they’ll be coming to us with a lot of confidence.

And the next day, the England squad is announced, I’ll have my fingers crossed.
