TWO men have denied a brutal assault on a Wigan nightclubber.

Bradley Phillips and Neil Shuker will now stand trial next year charged with causing Brent Croft grievous bodily harm with intent.

The 32-year-old ended up in intensive care with multiple bone fractures and serious head injuries after an incident at the Revolution Bar in King Street in October last year. At one point worried doctors had described his condition as critical.

A Facebook page was set up as folk wished Mr Croft a speedy recovery, with more than 3,000 people joining the group. His family responded with expressions of gratitude.

Phillips, 27, of Bolton Road, Aspull, and Shuker, also 27, of George Street, Hindley, both pleaded not guilty to the wounding charge when they appeared before a Liverpool Crown Court judge this week.

They were remanded on bail pending the beginning of a five-day trial scheduled for January 20.
