Parents told to stay away from nursery in '˜lock down'

Parents have been told to stay away from Little Acorns Nursery, on Dicconson Terrace, Swinley, and that children are safe.

It comes after police closed Upper Dicconson Street - with reports suggesting a man had been wrestled to the ground by armed officers

A post on the nursery’s Facebook page said: “We are currently on lock down due to an incident in the area. We are safe. All children are upstairs.

“Please DO NOT come for your children at little Acorns you will not get in.

“Please watch this page for more info it will be update as we know what is happening.”

Wigan Council has also urged people to stay away from the area.
