A Wigan nursery was on “lock down” due to an incident connected to the Manchester Arena bomb attack.

Parents were this afternoon told to stay away from Little Acorns Nursery, on Dicconson Terrace, Swinley, and that children were safe.

And at 5.30pm an update was put on the nursery’s Facebook page to say that children could be collected as the situation had “developed”.

It came as police arrested a man in Wigan in connection with the Manchester terror attack

The earlier post on the nursery’s Facebook page said: “We are currently on lock down due to an incident in the area. We are safe. All children are upstairs.

“Please DO NOT come for your children at little Acorns you will not get in.

“Please watch this page for more info it will be update as we know what is happening.”

Wigan Council has also urged people to stay away from the area.
