Peter Kay's new show for ill mum

The appeal for Polly Haydock, from Atherton, received a massive boost when the funnyman held two question and answer sessions in Blackpool last year in her honour.

They raised a total of £148,352, which helped to pay for the 37-year-old to receive treatment in Germany.

Now the Phoenix Nights and Car Share star will once again lend his support to Polly by doing another fund-raising event at Blackpool Opera House on Sunday, June 4.

At this new Q&A, the award-winning comedian will discuss his career in comedy and show exclusive clips and outtakes from his shows.

The audience will gain insights into Peter Kay’s TV programmes, including the BAFTA award-winning Car Share, Phoenix Nights, Max And Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, That Peter Kay Thing, and Britain’s Got The Pop Factor featuring his female alter ego Geraldine, as well as his stand-up tours.

Polly’s husband Dan said: “Peter rang us about a week ago and asked how Polly was and said he was going to do another show for us.”

It is hoped the new event will prove to be just as successful as last year’s shows and give another huge boost to Polly’s fund-raising.

Dan said: “We are so grateful that Peter is still supporting Polly.

“It means we can get her back to Germany quicker and hopefully get her back on her feet.”

Polly was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in October 2015 and last July she was given the news that she had just six months left to live.

Doctors said her life could possibly be prolonged by chemotherapy, but it would probably not be a cure.

She instead launched an appeal so she could go to Germany for immunotherapy, which she believes gives a better chance of survival.

Her story touched the hearts of people around the country, who heard about her plight and gave donations.

More than £220,000 has been raised so far, but more money is needed so that Polly can continue her treatment.

She is currently a patient at The Christie hospital in Manchester and wants to return to Germany as soon as possible, as the treatment she is receiving there is not available in the UK.
