Pillow fight breaks out in city centre (link to video)
Feathers were flying when an extraordinary twist on the flash mobbing scene unfolded on a Lancashire city's streets.
Shoppers quietly going about their business were stunned as dozens of pillow wielding youths roared on to Preston's Flag Market and started battering each other with bedding.
The scene lasted around a minute before the featherweight fighters holstered their cushions, turned on their heels and jogged off.
The footage appeared on the YouTube website, its discovery coming after the Lancashire Evening Post convinced the site to remove film showing teenagers taking part in vicious organised fights.
However, the scene which unfolded on a quiet day on the Flag Market was an altogether more innocent affair.
The film begins with a shaky video picture showing shoppers wandering around.
Seconds later about a dozen people turn up armed with their bedroom pillows and harmless hell breaks loose.
One combatant even flees halfway through, having taken a bit too much linen to the head.

Nearby shop bosses said it was the strangest sight ever to grace the Flag Market.
Adam Gabbott, marketing executive at Preston's Chamber of Trade, said: "It is certainly a strange thing to happen but a pillow fight is just a bit of fun.
"I think it's quite amusing. I don't think it will put Preston on the map but it happened on the Flag Market which is pretty scenic, so it can't do any harm."

The pillow fight is the latest twist on the flash mobbing phenomenon, which started in Manhattan, New York, in 2003.
The first organised mob pillow fight took place outside St Paul's Cathedral in London. It was organised by the capital-based Pillow Fight Club.
Since then thousands have gathered for organised pillow fights across America and Europe, mostly set up by organised internet-based groups.
