A PIZZA delivery had his car robbed at knifepoint.

The 24-year-old had just been turned away from a bogus order to a house in Prestt Grove, Worsley Mesnes when he was set upon by two men who threatened him with a craft knife.

The Domino’s employee was bundled out of the green-blue Vauxhall Corsa and his attackers got in and drove off. Days later the car was found abandoned on School Avenue, Whelley. The victim was uninjured but left shaken.

Police have appealed for information about the robbery which happened on Wednesday, March 20 between 7.30pm and 7.45pm. The knifeman was white, 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny to medium build. He spoke with a Wigan accent, wore scruffy black clothing with the hood up and plain black woolly gloves. His accomplice was described only as white and clad all in black.

PC Paul Hamilton of the West Wigan Neighbourhood Office, said: “The young man was just trying to do his job when he was confronted.

“They clearly set him up and lured him into their trap. These are desperate criminals who are not above threatening or using violence to steal. I now want to hear from anyone who may have seen the two offenders abandoning the Vauxhall Corsa and can identify them or give a description.”
