POLICE are searching for an arsonist who deliberately set a pick-up truck alight on a driveway.
Fire crews were called to a house in Wigan Road, Standish, at around 4am on Saturday morning after reports a red Ford Ranger had been set on fire.
The cab and engine of the pick-up were completely burnt out and the heat also spread to the house, with six windows being cracked and a quantity of guttering being melted.
The homeowner is thought to have been alerted to the blaze by his neighbours and was safely out of his home before the emergency services arrived.
Two fire engines from Wigan attended the scene, and crews worked for around an hour to put out the flames and make the area safe.
An investigation at the scene revealed the fire had been started deliberately, and an investigation has now begun by Greater Manchester Police, who are treating the incident as arson.
Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
