A NIGHTCLUBBER was battered beyond recognition in a savage early hours attack in Wigan town centre.
Police today issued a picture of a man they want to question in connection with the violent onslaught while praising door staff for sparing the victim even worse injuries by intervening.
The incident took place at about 5.15am on Sunday September 2, when the 23-year-old man was leaving the Indiependence club on King Street West, after a night out with friends.
When he reached neaerby Crawford Street he was set upon by the stranger.
The attack left the victim with a broken nose, fractures to his eye sockets and cheekbones, a detached retina, severely swollen and bloodshot eyes, and cuts and bruising to his face and head.
